so about four and a half years ago, i did an experiment in this journal with anonymous commenting. the results were pretty interesting so i thought i'd try it again. i realize that now there are websites devoted specifically to this sort of thing, like grouphug, but i'd like to do a little one here if y'all will indulge me. here are the copied instructions from the last time:
"basically, i want you to comment anonymously here and say anything you want. to me, to someone else, to yourself, about something in your life, something big or small, anything that's going on that you want to get out, existance in general, regrets, random minutiae, whatever. other people have done this and have gotten really interesting responses, so i want to open the forum to my extremely creative friends list."

not to be all vague dramatic internet blog about this, but it is seriously a lot of work to be the only adult in this situation in general, and i'm not perfect. it's taking every fiber of my being to simply type this vague thing rather than stoop to the level where the bar now rests. you know? i'm really done. i could shout my most personal business from the public internet rooftops pointedly knowing who'd read it if i wanted to, but i happen to have an ounce of consideration, myself. i realize that the lack thereof in others signifies yet another symptom of times gone wrong and the expiration of my energy reserves.
my life is really good right now, i am happy. i don't feel the need to prove it to anybody, either, and that's how i know it's true.

i now find myself in the (jen) dilemma of having to buy business casual clothes and be presentable, ugh. button up shirts give me the boob gappiest gaps, and i've never met a work pant i could be friends with. some ladies have given me helpful suggestions though, so i have to go on a SHOPPING MISSION. yuck. i know that i will end up with 1 useful piece of work attire and 20 cute polka dotted summer skirts and shirts with v-necks so deep you can see my bellybutton and other completely inappropriate things.
old navy has this "dressing for the workplace 101, you dumbass" section on their website full of button up shirts and work pants, haha. but i do want this suggested cute dress from there, and a tank top to go underneath:
other than that it'll probably be luck of the draw with some cardigans to cover my tattoo and some tights to cover my hairy legs.
in cooler news, i had all-female misfits choir rehearsal tonight with jenny and that shit ruled. YOU BEEN PISSIN!

warmer weather and discussion all over the place has got me thinkin about the things i am looking forward to in the warming months! despite my hatred of sticky molasses heat and being unable to wear winter tights, i am all about:
-cold and/or frozen beverages, including: rita's, iced coffee every day, bubble tea every day [henceforth known as 'bubz' due to an exciting joint business venture with diana that i can't disclose right now], cucumber and mango margaritas from frijoles, milkshakes, and delicious chilly water.
-TUBING WEATHER!
-doing everyday activites outside on the front or back porch, like reading and eating dinner and writing and thinking and chatting
-grilling out. well, we'll see about that one
-katie visiting!!!
-roller coasters
-sun and beachdom
-camping (hopefully in western maryland at least once)
-driving with the windows down/biking/walking while pumping upbeat jamz and singing so loud
-things being in season at the farmers market

my new duvet cover brings out the green in mama cat's eyes! she's been hanging out in my room a ton lately, snoozing in open drawers and looking out my window. i am glad i get to be friends with her because she is an amazing lady who wears fuzzy pantaloons.
the other day i was watching a short lived scifi series from the mid 90s and noticed that a guest star had also been on stargate sg-1, so i immediately called my mom to tell her about it and she was as excited as i was.
i realize that cats and nerdiness being my top journal updating points says a few things about my life currently, but i am pretty into it.

hello friends, please help me by posting your useful grad school-finding websites! i'm tryin'a be a M.A. lady up in this wintry piece.
also post any schools you're aware of that have good grad programs related to the following:
-cult film studies, like this: click
-cinema studies, like this: click
-pop culture/communications
-critical studies related to women's studies and communications, like this: click
-anything theory-based (not practical) related to television, film, and radio studies
-image preservation, like this: click
at this point i don't care where they are as long as i can find some i like, BUT if you somehow have a whole trove and want to narrow it down, i'd prefer in a large city, and probably in the USA for funding purposes.
